Information on Mickels

The longhouse farmstead Mickels is located in Nansta in the valley of Trogsta, Forsa. It is some 15 kilometres west of the city Hudiksvall in Sweden. The farm is situated very beautifully between the lake of Funsta and the mountain Storberget, in a living agricultural environment. The valley of Trogsta is world famous for its large farmhouses, Hälsingegårdar, and its rich history, dating back before the age of the Vikings.

The farmhouse of Mickels was built in its present shape in 1895. The farmhouse was at the time moved a few hundred meters up from where the old farmhouse had been. The old farmhouse was reused in building the new house. Much of the building material is very old and dating back to the 17-th and 18-th century. In this part of Hälsingland it is almost the norm that livingquarters, brew house, stable and even cattle shed etc., were adjoined. At Mickels are all the agricultural building functions under one roof with a unified architectural form. The farmhouse has a T-shape.
